The Nerello Mascalese "Tascante" is a red of great finesse and elegance, the result of the passion of the great Sicilian winery Tasca d'Almerita for an age-old viticulture, made of dry lava stone walls. The cool climate of the altitude and the soils of lava lands, contribute to give a unique personality to this Sicilian red, which is expressed with delicate aromas, subtle aromas, an austere and balanced face, perfectly in line with the varietal profile of this extraordinary grape of our south. The long aging in wood enhances its harmony, helping to enrich it with interesting evolutionary notes.

The "Tascante" is a pure Nerello Mascalese made from one of the most important wineries in Sicily. In fact, the Tasca Counts have been dealing with viticulture for more than two centuries. Over the years, other farms in various areas of the island have been added to the original Regaleari estate: Capofaro in Salina, Sallier de La Tor in Camporeale, Whitaker in Mozia and Tascante. The Etna estate was acquired in 2007 and is located on the north side of the volcano, in the municipal area of Castiglione di Sicilia and Randazzo. The vineyards are grown in an environment of extraordinary biodiversity, among olive trees and chestnut woods, on terraces with dry stone walls, which are located in the districts of Sciaranuova, Piano Dario, Grasà and Marchesa. The soils of stones and volcanic sands, the cool and breezy climate, with strong temperature variations, are the ideal habitat for the Nerello Macalese, which in these conditions expresses itself on levels of excellence.

The "Tascante" wine of Tasca d'Almerita is produced with grapes from vineyards over 50 years of age, grown at an altitude of about 700 meters above sea level. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 20-25 ° C, with a maceration on the skins for about 8 days. The wine ages for 18 months in 30 and 60 hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels. It has a bright ruby red color, quite slender, with slight garnet reflections. The bouquet recalls floral aromas, aromas of small red berry fruits, hints of undergrowth, aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean scrub and delicate spicy nuances. On the palate it is medium-bodied, with a lively tannic texture and an austere, clean and deep sip, which extends decidedly towards a fresh and mineral finish. Typical expression of Etna, it is a label suitable for those who love subtle, fresh and refined reds.
