Those who know Michele Satta know that they are dealing with a very special character in the world of wine. Few like him are in fact able to tell the story of the Bolgherese territory in Tuscany. Lombardo, more precisely from Varese, comes to Castagneto Carducci in a completely random way, during a summer spent on holiday with his parents: freshly enrolled at the University of Agriculture in Milan, he decides to stop and work for a farm, starting with the grape harvest. It was 1974, and since then Michele has been learning everything there is to know about agriculture, founding his own winery just under 10 years later, in 1983. Michele is one of the absolute protagonists of the Bolgheri area, whose DOC was established in 1984.From the year of foundation to the present day, a great deal of progress has been made, and alongside the company's growth Michele has managed to build a beautiful family, where his wife Lucia is the mainstay, and two of his six children, Giacomo and Benedetta, follow in their father's footsteps on the estate. Today the Michele Satta winery can boast a 24-hectare vineyard area; the vineyards are among the southernmost in the whole area, and are characterised by a medium-textured composition and the great fertility of the soil. Among the rows, where organic practices are followed, there are those white and red berry varieties that Michele considers most suitable after years of observation and experimentation, such as viognier, vermentino, sauvignon, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, syrah, sangiovese and teroldego.Today about 160,000 bottles come out from the Castegneto Carducci winery, divided between eight different labels, ranging from white wines, such as "Giovin Re" and "Costa di Giulia", to great reds, starting from "Piastraia" and "Cavaliere" to "Castagni", Bolgheri Superiore which embodies the peak of the expressiveness reached by this splendid territory.
