Ca'Marcanda is an integral part of the great winemaking experience of Angelo Gaja, already author of wines capable of revolutionizing the concept of territorial marketing with high-sounding products of Piedmontese enology: from Gaja's desire to invest in the terroir of the Bolgheri coast , in Tuscany, Ca'Marcanda was born, a company of 100 hectares of vineyards taken over by the old owners after a long negotiation (hence the name, which in Piedmontese dialect means "bargaining").

With the construction of the new imposing cellar Gaja wanted to insert his project in a framework of harmony with nature, using only materials found during the excavations. The construction of the new Ca'Marcanda winery was entirely directed by the architect Giovanni Bo, a long-time collaborator of Angelo Gaja, capable of assigning a deeply distinctive identity to the new Tuscan project.

For the Bolgherese wines of Ca'Marcanda Gaja has chosen to respect the more traditional characteristics of local viticulture, with the typical Bordeaux cuts that have long distinguished the territory: the setting in the vineyard and in the cellar manages to combine high quality with quantities of wine a little larger than Gaja has done in the past elsewhere. The Bolgheri Camarcanda is the absolute symbol of the winery and for this reason it bears its name: made up of 50% Merlot and the remainder of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, is a wine of great consistency and intense layered aromas, cloaked in a subtle softness given by the wise aging in barriques.
