The Folonari family has been producing wine since the 18th century, has been led by the eighth generation with Giovanni Folonari, together with his father Ambrogio, and since 2000 they have specialized in the production of elegant wines, with character and a strong territorial bond. The company, which has been called Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari Tenute, testifying to the great love for Tuscany, today has six estates in the most representative and important territories of the region. Starting from the Chianti Classico area, more precisely in Greve in Chianti, where we find the Nozzole and Cabreo estates, which since the 80s have given birth to wines of great importance, and revolutionary for a rather traditionalist area, like the Cabreo "La Pietra", a chardonnay vinified in wood, and the "Cabreo Black", from pure Pinot Noir. How not to mention a supertuscan such as "Il Pareto", from the Nozzole estate, a cabernet sauvignon that has shown a great adaptation of the variety to that particular terroir. The Folonari family has invested heavily in the territory of Montepulciano, land of Vino Nobile, with TorCalvano Gracciano, and of course in Montalcino with La Fuga, an estate dedicated to the production of the famous Brunello di Montalcino, owned by the sisters Fabia Cornaro dell'Acqua and Giovanna Cornaro Folonari, respectively wife of Ambrogio and mother of Giovanni. Of great charm are the splendid cellars of the estates, which house large barrels and barriques intended for the maturation of red wines, a place where you can breathe tradition, respect for it, in a modern key. From Montalcino we move to nearby Montecucco where we find Vigne a Porrona, an area where varieties such as Sangiovese, Syrah and Merlot have shown a particular adaptation. To complete the picture, only an important territory was missing, this time on the coast, Campo al Mare was born, near Bolgheri, where the Folonari aim for the maximum expression of cultivars that have always given remarkable results in the area, the Vermentino among the berries white, while among the reds there is space for international varieties such as merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot, from which the mighty Bolgheri Superiore DOC "Baia al Vento" is born. Recently the family has invested beyond the region, in the Collio area, in Friuli, carrying out the Ronco dei Folo project, aiming in this case at the enhancement of the indigenous vines of an area known for suberbi white wines. The wines of the Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari estates have always been synonymous with authenticity and quality, we are talking about a company that manages to conquer the most refined palates every year, thanks to products capable of representing the territories of origin at best.
