In 1950, Silvio Nardi, father of the current owners, bought the Casale del Bosco estate in Montalcino more for passion than for work. The main business of the family was represented since 1895 by the Nardi company - an important company in the construction of agricultural machinery that had, and still has, headquarters in Umbria. In 1958, when the Brunello Consortium did not exist yet and Montalcino was only a small town still unknown, the first bottle of Brunello came out of the cellars of Casale del Bosco. Today we can rightly say that Silvio Nardi was the first "foreigner" to invest in Montalcino. In 1962, the Manachiara Estate was purchased, with 40 hectares of vineyards, near Castelnuovo dell’Abate and 25 km from Casale del Bosco. The Manachiara vineyards now give their name to the company's precious Brunello cru of the same name. In 1967 Silvio Nardi was one of the founders of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino. In 1970, the Tenuta di Bibbiano, in the Municipality of Buonconvento, was added to the Estates of Casale del Bosco and Manachiara, the symbol of which is still today the beautiful medieval castle of the family which dates back to the 11th century. In 1985, Emilia Nardi, Silvio's youngest daughter, joins the company and has taken over from him since 1990. Emilia, together with her brothers, decides to introduce radical changes in the wine production and business management process. He undertook a process of restructuring both the vineyards and the cellar, choosing to combine tradition with scientific research. From his firm will to enhance the company's vineyards, in 1995, the Brunello produced by the Vigna di Manachiara, the flagship of the company, was born and the process of selecting the company clones was started. Tenute Silvio Nardi today are 36 vineyards in an intact and above all loved territory, awareness of being able to count on an unmistakable land and the will to always focus, everything, on the expression of each individual terroir.
