Castello di Ama is a company founded in the seventies by the Lorenza Sebasti and Marco Pallanti family, who, inspired by the picturesque landscapes of Chianti, wanted to revive an already historically established area. Located in Ama, in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti, in the province of Siena, the company enjoys five beautiful vineyards along 89 hectares of valleys around the town. Located almost 500 meters above sea level, the land is characterized by different exposures and structures, which correspond to names coined by tradition, inspired by the surrounding villages or by local characteristics: while the "Bellavista" vineyard extends over a stony ground , clayey and calcareous is hit by the heat of the sun in the south-southwest, the "La Casuccia" vineyard is exposed to the west-southwest and has a strongly clayey soil crossed by the skeleton, the "San Lorenzo" vineyard has in its heart a small church of fifteenth century, which stands on a limestone land looking at the sun to the east-southeast, the "Bertinga" vineyard has a varied soil that opens mostly to the west and, finally, the "Montebuoni" vineyard has an extremely varied composition extending south-southwest.

The history of Castello di Ama as the cradle of wine production begins in the eighteenth century, a time when it was already reported as the "best place in Chianti for wines" by Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo d'Asburgo Lorena, who visited Ama in 1773 and praises the government of Tuscany. A plaque recalls these words of admiration, which went on to say that "Around the castle of Amma there are the most beautiful hills and valleys in the whole of Chianti, marvelously cultivated with fertile soils with grains, olive trees and beautiful vineyards" to underline then as "The vineyards of Ama are well exposed, absolative, all well kept and as gardens: this part is the most fertile and the most famous of Chianti".

The excellence of the golden times is back today more shining than ever, as evidenced by the awards that crowned it: while the owner Marco was awarded the title of Winemaker of the Year in 2003 by the Gambero Rosso Wine Guide, for the next two terms, from 2006 to 2012, he was awarded the title of president of the Chianti Classico Consortium and in 2005 the company was declared the Best of the year.
