The Villa, one of the largest and most elegant residences in the hills of San Casciano, was once called the "queen of villas". Owned by many of the most illustrious and important Tuscan noble families over the centuries including Machiavelli, Corsini, Strozzi, Antinori and Capponi, and has been visited by Popes and Tsars.
PoggioTorselli has one of the most beautiful Italian gardens in the country, embellished with a collection of over 130 citrus plants including the very rare Bizzarria (Citrus aurantium, which gives its name to some of the company's wines). In 1999, latenuta was purchased by the Zamparini family, who have always been passionate about agriculture, who saw the great potential of the Poggio, proceeding with an important work of recovery and enhancement of the Villa, garden, park, olive groves and vineyards. Since 2017, the property has embarked on a very serious wine path, made of sustainable and territorial choices with the aim of producing wines with minimal human intervention and of high quality and which place wine at the center of its hospitality business.
THE COMPANY
The real enological turning point took place in 2017 when winemaker Eduardo Colapinto joined Cantinal’s. The company is much more than ebiodynamic biology: its green vision is based on a holistic approach to viticulture and wine production that has its roots in sustainability and respect for the environment and the surrounding ecosystem. According to this philosophy, everything is interconnected: vineyards and land, nature and man, ecosystem, harmony and balance that are found in the DNA of wines.
At the moment the company produces about 100,000 bottles, divided into three IGT Toscana, Bizzarria white, red and rosé, the latter produced with a Pugnitello grape, a very ancient Tuscan native vine, and three Chianti Classico DOCG: the Classico, the Riserva and the Great Selection.
Chianti Classico DOP extra virgin olive oil is also produced, obtained with biodynamic practices from over one hundred year old olive trees: moraiolo, frantoio, pendolino and leccino.
