On the west coast of the island of Honshu, in Japan, there is the Shinobu distillery where this blended malt whiskey is produced, containing single malts from different distilleries and aged at least 10 years in a mix of ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks before to be aged for a few months in Japanese Mizunara oak barrels. The nose is sweet with notes of vanilla, wild flowers, honey, and lemon peel with a slight hint of fresh wood, while the palate remains soft and slightly spicy with notes of barley malt, citrus fruits, chocolate, black pepper and coffee ; on the finish there are notes of toasted oak, citrus fruits, pepper, barley malt and a slight hint of vanilla.
