Refresh yourself with a Rosé de Provence

Perfect companions for summer evenings, dinners with family or friends, rosé wines have created a place for themselves and have nothing to envy from their white and red counterparts. A treat for the eyes and a pleasure for the senses, rosé wines find a place at our tables to everyone's delight. Provence is the region that expresses the excellence of these wines. On sandy and granitic soils, bush-trained black varieties that withstand the heat such as Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsaut, Carignan and Tibouren are grown. Less frequent white grapes include Clairette, Ugni blanc, Sémillon and Rolle (the French name for Vermentino).

The colour of wines in Provence is soft pink. This is where most of the rosé wines drunk in the world come from, and Provençal rosé wines are the stereotype of a growing fashion for delicate, soft-coloured rosés with a fresh taste. Tradition, quality, style and a strong image are the values that contribute to their success.

Summery, though not necessarily so, rosé wines can be served chilled, which makes them perfect for aperitifs. They can also worthily accompany a meal. They are perfect with Mediterranean cuisine - their DNA does not lie - and in particular with cold dishes such as a caprese or salads, or with cold rice or pasta. The softness and acidity of a rosé goes divinely with any tomato-based dish.
