This is another good wine produced in Montalcino, Siena province. This DOC red wine, could be considered the youngest brother of the most popular one Brunello of Montalcino. Like Brunello, even the Red of Montalcno is produed with 100% Sangiovese grapes (clones Brunello), but it can be commercialized from the next September, after the year of the harvest. Although Chianti wine it's a DOCG since 1984 and in particular the sub-zone Chianti Classico since 1996, the first traces of the use of the word "Chianti" to identify an area of Toscany, and the wine produced there, go back to 1200.Today the production of this important wine of the Tuscan tradition, is ruled by a straight disciplinary of laws and supervised by the Chianti Classico Union, that identifies the best Chianti Classico wines of the region with the icon of a black rooster.Made with minimum 80% of Sangiovese grapes and maximum 20% of other red grapes, this wine can be well combined with roasted pork, chicken, game and cheeses.The serving temperature is between 16 and 18°C, and it is recommanded to open the bottle 1 or 2 hours before pouring the wine in the glasses Close

To be named "Riserva" Chanti Classco must be aged two more years before to be sales. The result is a stronger structure and body, with a total alcohol content, that have to be minimum 12,5%Vol. Soft and spicy, this wine is perfect with complex dishes and aged salami and cheeses. The better serving temperature is 16-18° and if possible, let the wine breath in the bottle for 2-3 hours before, or use a decanter for the latest harvest that you can find in commerce, is a recommendation.
