In 1991 the first vineyard was planted with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Syrah, with the aim of satisfying both the well-established great expression of the Bordeaux vines in Bolgheri, both the all-Tuscan elegance of Sangiovese and the all-Mediterranean complexity of Syrah . Since 2012 the Piastraia has been awarded the Superiore mention after almost 20 harvests.

The Piastraia wine has by now carved out a prominent place among the Bolgheri Superiore, for the constancy of its quality level. It represents a classic, one of the historical labels of the Denomination and a point of reference for those who want to get close and discover the wines of Bolgheri. The choice of grape varieties makes its profile very particular and recognizable, making it a wine with a strong personality. In the glass it shows a beautiful bright ruby red. The nose reveals intense aromas with aromas of small dark berry fruits, blackberry and blueberry jam, notes of herbs from the Mediterranean scrub, delicately spicy and woody nuances. On the palate it is ripe and harmonious, with a beautiful structure and aromatic complexity, an evolved tannic texture and a pleasant closure on fresh and balsamic notes.
